Day 1 – Bananasana
Open up your side body and relieve hip and knee pain! |
Because you look like a Banana! This will loosen kinks in your soft tissue from your IT Band all the way to the top of your side rib cage.
I love to start my classes and personal practice with Bananasana. In fact at my studio this asana is know as, “Erika and that damn banana.”
Our soft tissue, fascia, is connected from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. In fact, 30% of what we call muscle is fascia! When we get a kink in one area of the fascia, it has a ripple effect on our entire body.
1. Play your edge. Feel heat and fire but never lightning
2. Keep shoulders and hips on the ground
3. Hold on each side for 3-5 minutes
Breathe deeply and make your exhales as long as possible. Release all muscle and commit to mental and physical stillness. You deserve this. You can do this. You will release and grow from this. Have a wonderful day!
